Swim–Float–Swim Course
(24 Months – 3 Years)

The next essential step after the Floater Course.
This course teaches your child the full survival sequence: swim, roll, float, breathe, and return to safety independently.

The Swim–Float–Swim Course is the progression survival stage for children aged 24 months to 3 years who have already completed the Floater Course.
It builds directly on your child’s floating and breathing foundation, helping them link their skills together into a complete survival sequence.

Through calm guidance, repetition and predictable routines, children learn to:

• Swim forward
• Roll onto their backs to float and breathe
• Rest in a stable back-float position
• Roll back over and continue swimming
• Reach safety independently

This sequence is the cornerstone of real survival swimming.

SWIM–FLOAT–SWIM COURSE

Who this course is for:

  • Children aged 24 months to 3 years

  • Children who have successfully completed the Floater Course

  • Children who show emotional and developmental readiness

  • Children who are ready to combine floating and swimming in one sequence

No child begins this stage without the foundational floating skills taught in the Floater Course.

What your child will learn:

  • The complete Swim–Float–Swim sequence

  • Rolling for air whenever needed

  • Swimming short distances independently

  • Relaxed, stable back floating

  • Breath control and calmness in the water

  • How to reach the steps or side of the pool safely

This stage transforms a floating child into one who can survive in the water independently.

How the lessons work:

This course consists of:

  • 4 lessons per week (Monday to Thursday)

  • 3 consecutive weeks

  • 12 private one-on-one sessions

  • 10 minutes per lesson

Ten-minute lessons are short by design. Young children learn best through brief, focused sessions that protect their attention, nervous system and emotional well-being.

Short lessons produce faster progress, higher retention and calmer, more confident swimmers.

Why this method works:

The Swim–Float–Swim sequence requires coordination, strength, breath control and emotional stability. This structured approach allows children to:

• Feel safe and grounded

• Develop confidence through repetition

• Build motor-pattern memory

• Strengthen survival instincts

• Master essential skills step by step.

The method is research-informed, child-centred and proven to work quickly and effectively.

WHEN WILL THE NEXT COURSE RUN?

Courses do not run every month, and future dates are not guaranteed. Our Water Safety & Survival Swimming Courses and Little Swimmers Weekly share one instructor and one pool.

Before opening another course, we need to ensure there is enough space for children completing the current course to continue practising and building their skills in weekly lessons.

If you would like your child to join, we encourage you to book the current course while bookings are open and places remain. We will announce further courses once teaching time and follow-on weekly lesson availability are confirmed.

ADDITIONAL FEES

SwimStories reusable Splash Nappy, where required: R450.

A SwimStories reusable Splash Nappy is compulsory for all children under four, even if fully potty trained, and older children who are not yet fully potty trained. No other swimming nappies are permitted.

It must fit correctly and be worn for every lesson where required. The R450 purchase price is additional to the course fee.

Thank you for helping us keep the pool hygienic for every swimmer and avoid lesson interruptions.

AFTER THE COURSE

We encourage children to continue in Little Swimmers Weekly after completing the course, usually with 20-minute private lessons, subject to instructor approval and availability.

Weekly practice helps your child maintain the Swim–Float–Swim sequence, strengthen coordination and stamina, and develop early swimming movements. A course booking does not automatically reserve a weekly lesson place.
